We were due to have an exam at 8am this Friday morning, so as usual, most (if not all) of my classmates and I pulled another all-nighter just to make sure we covered everything. Now what do you think would be the most revolting thing that could happen out of that?
Yep, finding out at 8:30am that the exam is postponed to Monday. Great.
Out of restlessness and just to plainly kill time before the next class at 10am, my classmate invited us to join him at Starbucks just to enjoy some airconditioning, classy music and the smell of lovely coffee. For some good reason (I thought it was a good idea), I decided to grab myself a tall cup of Christmas blend, since I haven't been in Starbucks in a while.
She glanced at the wedding invitation, it felt like her heart stopped for a moment.
As she lifted the flap of the envelope to tuck the shimmery yellow paper back in, she noticed a tiny slip of paper. She pulled it out.
In rather familiar squiggles, it read,
She rolled her eyes, what makes him think she'd be going to his wedding? The nerve of it all.
What could she do? She wanted to break up with him, she was the one who cut all possible chances of her being in that wedding invitation instead of this beautiful girl who was marrying him. Did she want to let him go? Oh you bet she did. Did she think she might lose him forever? Yes she did. Did she consider it? In comparison to her love for God and desire to obey Him, she knew it was going to be worth it.
She still wanted to be friends though, and did what she could about that. But that proved to be impossible.
With so many thoughts pounding in her head, Tam flung herself on the closest couch and threw the envelope on the carpet. This is the price both she and Dex had to pay for falling in too deep.
But if their complicated friendship didn't end due to their relationship, and if she never chose to let him go, she would have never known the person that was really intended for her, the man who she really loved, the man she knew was made just for her. This person who, as it is accurately said in the movie "500 Days of Summer," had what she was never sure of with Dex.
As if in response to her thoughts, a rapping sound came resonating from the front door of her apartment. She knew it was Teddy, her fiance.
"It's open!"
Theodore stuck his head in and peeked as if he was expecting to see a monster. For a tough defense attorney, he was the funniest thing she ever met.
"Get in here, Monster. We're going to a wedding, and you need to help me write a toast."

I tried sleeping in the afternoon but I couldn't, all thanks to that coffee. While I tossed and turned as the afternoon light mocked my lack of sleep, my steadily whirring mind generated a few things that were actually more substantial than useless, but more philosophical than medical.
One certain (but rather overshooting) stream of thought then out-shined the most: "How would it feel like when one would know that a past "lover" is getting married already?" "What if that person used to be or is still your friend, wouldn't that feel a little weird?" "Would it be alright to attend their wedding?"

We are all aware that we need to keep ourselves set apart for that certain one that God has made for us, but not all of us are exactly endowed with such a clean streak. Some of us have taken a wrong path along the way.
So this little short story strode its way into my imagination. If it sounds like anything related to real life, it may be coincidental though I admit that it has been inspired by some true events. The entire thing though, as a whole, is purely fictional.
I hope it makes sense.
